I'm sure the loop fans are thrilled

I'll put it this way; we've learned things from the Cinch that are being applied to the Loop that make the Loop very very cool. I mean, if you invested used BMW 5 series money to tool up to make dynamic sliding web adjusters out of carbon fiber in a ceramic polymer base, wouldn't you use that tech on every product you make?

I thought you could no longer make the Loop?

So as long its a modified version that doesn't infringe on patents.

The idea for the Cinch came directly from my experience with military gear where sliding adjuster mechanisms are quite common (Blue Force Gear's Vickers sling, Kyle Lamb's VTAC, Magpul's MS series, etc). We simply adapted the concept to cameras. Even before us, a Japanese outfit had the Digital Ninja strap that sorta did the quick adjust deal, but was a very simple webbing sling without the comfort of a shoulder pad.

Ha! I had actually imagined a few of those products when debating on having someone make me a custom strap, presumadely a custom nylon guy familiar with said slings.

Taking ideas for a "safety tether" at all?

Like a wrist strap safety tether for your hand? We have one in the works.

Honestly, Luma has a LOT of stuff in the works, but we feel the need to develop a truly effective bracket quick release concept. This is the primary driver for Cinch 3, a hand strap, a small camera strap and a few other gizmos.

I don't think anyone has really solved the quick release solution (aside from tripod mounted stuff). Everything out there either leaves a giant thing dangling from your camera, or it's difficult to remove (i.e. not "quick"). It's a challenge because we don't want to make something that costs an arm and a leg like the Swiss Le Hooks (which we love!), but it needs to be strong... Ohh, and it also can't scratch your camera!

It's a challenge to really solve this problem right, but we're working on it.

And if you mean tether for the Cinch....

I'll paraphrase Steve Jobs (re: touch screens "If you see a stylus, they are doing it wrong"). If a camera strap company festoons their strap with safety tethers, they aren't doing their job correctly.

Well, keep on keeping on then Greg and Luma.

I'm no expert, having cycled through just two straps (canon OEM, Tamrac N25) before, but I think my Cinch 2 is remarkably sturdy, comfortable and all around damn near perfect. The fact that it is from my home town is icing on the cake.

I've been looking at this strap for a while (though reading this thread, I should probably wait for an announcement soon from luma?)

Do any owners here use this strap alongside a sling camera bag, such as a domke? Is it awkward to use or keep strapped to your body while doing so?

I use it with this bag all the time (http://goincase.com …slr-pro-sling-pack#view/1 (external link))

I haven't had any issues using it along side. I actually feel that the bag helps stabilize the camera next to my body.

Chad, looking at the configuration of the bag, looks like you've got both the bag and the camera going from left shoulder to right waist, right, as opposed to bandolier style going on opposite directions? So the bulk of the bag does not interfere with the Cinch functionality?

Yes. Correct about that, but I have gone cross sling to distribute the weight, and still did not have issues with it.

You'll be waiting a while. Right now, the primary focus is getting Loop 3 out in the next couple of weeks. We just completed beta testing of L3 this week with Duncan and a few other photographers shooting TED2014 with prototypes. It went well enough that we released to manufacturing last Wednesday.

The goal was to make the Loop 3 far more stable and secure than the, ahem, other sling straps out there. An offset webbing slide keeps the camera positioned perfectly, big (captive) thumb screw makes taking it on/off easy and Cinch sliders allow you to tighten it while pulling the camera above your hip; it keeps the camera from picking up the movement of your leg and bouncing around annoyingly. Oh, and no fiddily bits to fail or quick release to accidentally unbuckle. And for those of you who missed Luma machining stuff... we're machining the hell out of this thing:
