Hello All,

I recently had a D10 flood and I sent it in for warranty to Canon Irvine and it was received by Canon on 8/8. It’s now 8/16 and they haven’t even logged it in yet. I’ve sent in a 5D and 5D M3 before and never had to wait this long for them to even log it in. On both of those occasions, I got my camera back in less than one week, repaired from the time I shipped it. I called Canon and they said they have a backlog and it should be recorded tomorrow, (they said that on both Monday and today Thursday) but can it be that long to simply log it in?

Hope I get it back before a trip next month, but at this rate it seems like it will be next year.

Has anyone ever had to wait that long before from Canon Irvine before they logged it in? If so, how long does it go from logged in, to finally getting it back?

Thanks,
Mike

Uncertain? But the "we'll log it in tomorrow" response is getting tiresome.

are you a CPS member? If your CPS you should get it back within a week.

I also walked into that facility when I was on a business trip and I got to bypass the line and walk into a special office =)

Maybe all the Canon service centers are very busy with the recent T4i grip recall?

I would imagine there is a lot of kit there getting repaired/cleaned ect. for publications returning from the Olypmics right now too. Just a guess.

They're also not the brightest bunch over there. I dropped off a 3-month-old 300 f/4 L IS two weeks ago at Canon Irvine, to have the hood replaced, nothing else, just hood replacement (it's integrated into the lens). The guy who took the lens understood, hood replacement, nothing else. Just the hood.

I got a call a week later, drove 2 hours back to Irvine, girl at the counter hands me the lens, with no hood. They performed an 'electronic calibration', and stated that the hood was missing on the report. They offered me no support, and barely an apology. It is supposedly getting taken care of now though.

I am eligible for CPS Gold (a few points shy of Platinum), but am not yet registered. I asked if I would have gotten better customer support had I been, and she dumbly shrugged like a valley girl. "I 'unno" she says.

certainly doesn't sound like good customer service, from what I've heard the Virginia facility is better but they only do certain types of work

They had it six days before the last T4i announcement?

Just because they had it for six days BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE, doesn't mean that they weren't working on fixing units at the time of the announcement. Just my two cents...

Who knows? I only know what's been published. However, it still hasn't been checked-in yet, and they escalated it to be looked into because it should have been checked-in by now (according to the person I spoke to at Canon).

It is supposed to be, and worked great for just under a year:) It flooded somehow on the last snorkel trip. Screen has sand in it, the camera filled with water and it wouldn't power on.

I'm not really certain where the water came in. The openings were definitely sealed before I entered the water, and kept the water in until I opened it?

I was a great camera, I miss it. Hope to get it back before my next outing.
