I had a chance to visit the belted kingfishers again and I think I had better light this time. I have quite a few pictures but these are the ones that I have processed for now (work is hampering my hobby :)). So I hope it's ok that I will post the other pictures later. Thanks for looking and c&c always welcome.

Super shooting my dear man.

Some day I will see a Kingfisher long enough to get a photo. Until then I will have to look at yours Jo. That blind is certainly working for you. Did you crop these much at all?

That last one is a hoot! Love it.

Thanks Steve, I was about 6m from the KF. 2 hours of not moving and sitting like a statue yielded some shots that I really like, it is really challenging to take pictures of this kingfisher.

Thanks so much Lil, you are very kind. The 1st day yielded zero shots but i got lucky on the second day. These shots won't be possible if I was not on a blind. The portrait shots are big crops (60%) but the others were very little crops.

So well done, Jo, you are so lucky (and patient) to be able to get such excellent shots of this elusive bird.

Top work Jo. Now then, your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to photograph Kingfishers in flight :)

Mark, only if you take me under your wings and teach me how to photograph small birds flying :) Honestly, my dream shot is to get a nice IF shot of this kingfisher.

Beautiful. Why is it that only the females will occasionally stay in one place long enough to pose for you? At least that's been my experience.

Very nice series. She's a beauty and you did well to get her in close range. In my experience the males are a bit more skittish.

Thanks for the comments Betty. There are 2 males in the area I visit and most of the time they are busy chasing each other :)

Thanks Steve, I have the same experience. The closest i've seen them perch is in a high stump that is about 50 meters away from me. They dive and then always fly away from me.
