I'd suggest downloading and trying the 30 day trial version before purchasing.

Are you saying that of the serial number, of the blocks of 4 numbers, that you only have 5 blocks rather than 6 ? 1------2-----3------4-----5------6 1234 5678 9012 3456 7890 1234 In a thread somewhere I think you can get the full serial number from the drop down help menu in the PS program, if that helps. Thats how i got the serial # from ps7. But when seperated like you did, i have only 5 sets of 4#'s. |Canon 80D|40D backup|24-105 F4/L|Sigma 70-200 F/2.8|Sigma 150-500 C|

I finally got an answer to whether I could upgrade from the Photoshop 3.0 that I have and it is much as I expected that without having the license transfered from the original owner to me, it ain't gonna happen. The info from the 2 Adobe phone reps I had spoken to was incorrect in what they had told me. Below is an excerpt from a posting I had put up on an Adobe Photoshop board. This is a response from an Adobe employee that appears to have a grasp on things and I presume is correct. I did call Adobe and they will tell you if a serial number is registered and thus licensed. I have been registering copies of PS Elements that I have acquired from my Canon camera purchases as well as one that came with a Wacom tablet and these do show up on the Adobe site under my personal info. So I guess the copies that were handed down from old college buddies or where ever, unless you can get the license transfered, the cheaper of the upgrade paths won't take place. Next choice is the upgrade offer with PS Elements for $299 http://store.adobe.com …/master.jhtml?id=catCanon which still isn't cheap, but certainly better than Adobes full price. Adobe response: "Simply stated, "buying" a secondhand physical copy of Adobe software, either with or without the serial number, does not entitle you to any rights to use and especially upgrade that software unless you have accomplished an official transfer of license through Adobe per <http://www.adobe.com …alesdocs/1000554.html> I am sorry that the Adobe representatives led you to believe that registration was only for purposes of technical support. Registration by the actual user is necessary for customer assistance for replacement of media (lost, stolen, damaged CDs for example) or for upgrading very old software versions, such as the one you have. The lesson here is that when “purchasing” second hand computer systems with installed software or second hand software packages, be sure to legally transfer ownership of software licenses. (Adobe is not the only software vendor with such transfer requirements; some vendors don't allow any software license transfers!) If the seller of such systems and/or software are reluctant to participate in such a transfer, you should be rightfully skeptical of the legality of the software licenses you are purchasing. Especially, be aware of scams on eBay and similar venues! - Dov" Bummer! Looks like I will be getting PSE4.0. I am going to call Adobe tonight to see if my copy is legit or not. I get an error on the Adobe site. Oh well, it was worth a shot. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive
