Aug 17, 2012 18:16 | #5 Maybe he wanted a small DOF on this picture? Why does the entire bee need to be in focus? He has the eye, you can clearly see it's a bee... When somebody gets a great shot of a person that has a really shallow DOF, I don't see people requesting "more DOF". 6D | 7D MkII | 16-35 f4L | 35 f1.2L II | 135 f2L | 180 f3.5L | 400 f5.6L

Sometimes to appreciate the beauty of a subject, you don't get so close that you lose the other elements that compliment the beauty. Let's say a girl has gorgeous, captivating eyes, you certainly wouldn't just shoot the eye. A better frame would be to show the facial features that compliment the subject. Just my 2c... LiquidDark Goldmember More info | Aug 23, 2012 05:40 | #12 I like it very much as well.....as long as the eye is in focus it usually works on some level, in this case it shows some spectacular selective focus. very hard to do with insect, congrats! William

If that's the case then he succeeded rather well IMO. My only complaint is that I think it would be better horizontal. 1DX | 5D MkII (gripped)
