I agree, there is just too little in focus in this picture.

I will agree with everyone here. You need more DOF. Would like to see the WHOLE bee! It's not about how wide you can shoot, its concentrating on the perfect shot!

Maybe he wanted a small DOF on this picture? Why does the entire bee need to be in focus? He has the eye, you can clearly see it's a bee... When somebody gets a great shot of a person that has a really shallow DOF, I don't see people requesting "more DOF".

I think I'd like this a little more if the light would have wrapped up a little higher onto the eye, but it's not a bad shot. I would have gone for a little more DOF but that's a preference of mine.

Q, I know what you mean but this image feels like it's so close to our view that we need to back off a bit. Sometimes to appreciate the beauty of a subject, you don't get so close that you lose the other elements that compliment the beauty. Let's say a girl has gorgeous, captivating eyes, you certainly wouldn't just shoot the eye. A better frame would be to show the facial features that compliment the subject. Just my 2c...

Wow! I wish I could nail focus this well when trying to take images of bees. Great job.

I like it very much as well.....as long as the eye is in focus it usually works on some level, in this case it shows some spectacular selective focus. very hard to do with insect, congrats!

Very nice shot. I agree with some, it would be better with more DOF, but still a good shot ;)

I have to agree with Q-Man. Maybe he wanted the eye to be the subject and not the entire bee. If that's the case then he succeeded rather well IMO. My only complaint is that I think it would be better horizontal.
