Lucked into some neat cloud variations which provided some nice backdrops for the planes at 8 Wing Trenton this week. C+C welcome and appreciated.

Good ones, & the clouds are great! I wonder why we seldom see them as backgrounds here?

Thanks. I've been zooming in less and less nowadays, as I find that the bigger picture always tells more of a story than a closeup...personal opinion of course.

I like them and I have to agree that clouds can make a big difference to a photo, and that includes non aviation photos. I've got a photo of a scale R/C 36 WACO that is a bit underexposed making the clouds behind it look meaner than they were waiting for me to do a bit of photoshop magic too which will really change the look. I've learned to watch for certain types of clouds while shooting R/C events just in the hope of framing a plane a certain way against them and luckily I've got a few shots that are much more interesting thanks to the clouds. A blue sky is very nice compared to a dull overcast one but the right clouds can really add to a photo.

Have to agree, the clouds really add an extra dimension.

I spent the day not very far from Trenton shooting a big R/C event and most of the morning had clouds very similar to the ones in your photos. Hopefully some of the photos shot using them as the background will be as interesting as yours. The cards are downloading now & it will take a while but here's an old one that I think really is much better with the clouds than a blue sky alone.

It's a big R/C heli but that's very hard to tell with the style of clouds behind it.
