I always find it confusing on this and any other forum when people post about skin tones, then post a pic.
How does the rest of us know what the true skin tone is unless you were there. There are so many varying degrees. Unless the photo has a color cast of some kind I don't understand how advice can be given on if it correct or not.
Thoughts?
I think you're right - all we can do is comment on how it looks to us. Sometimes there may be an obvious white balance issue, or sometimes areas of the skin may be under/over exposed, but absent an issue like those there's probably too much variance in things like calibrated versus uncalibrated monitors, viewing conditions, etc., for comments to be very meaningful.
