Yo!

I shot an editorial feature for online mag, www.TheSuperslice.com (external link)

I collaborated with Constance from M Models (flawless beauty) and we shot in a few alley ways etc. the concept was simple.... its 'Follow me'. as in, follow me down the street, follow me on facebook, follow me to the superslice.

Below are the first batch of images. We styled it (or my wardrobe stylists stylsed it) to be reminiscent of the 80's.

I shot an impromtu video as well... The whole point is to have no point but to be completely sexy for no reason.

Anyway, enjoy!!!

Poor shots if you ask me. They're under exposed & the models face is covered in shadow.

And the question then is: Were you asked?

Yeah they might be a bit under exposed. Im ok with that. Many people here in the forums go for photo-realism, which is great only I actually am not a fan. I shoot .5 stopped down on purpose, remove all black and white from images. Its graded the way I like to see them. But hey, what do I know... Im just a guy with camera hahaha.

But honestly, these are shot for mood. They are not meant to portray a flawless technical element, more they are meant to portay a candid element. Anyone can read the meter inside their camera, a 5 year old can do it. What has worked for me is (pardon my french), not giving a ****. It sounds crude, but I wasnt signed to an agency because I mastered the butterfly lighting technique. I stopped shooting like everyone about a year ago and things started to change in my career. I was signed because of the mood element to my photos. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. This is my friendly suggestion. These photos are not for everyone, but under exposing the image doesn not classify a poor shot. Perhaps form a technical standpoint, but then again, these are purposely shot this way.

Why did he put them up here for then?
Did the OP wish to receive rave reviews & plaudits but no critisism?
Bloody idiot!

On one hand - this is a photo sharing - not CC thread.

On the other hand - CC stands for Constructive Criticism.

I don't see Bloody idiot etc as constructive - it's more a destructive expression.

Ok, come on... no need for name calling. Look, I am totally fine with CC. In fact, I have learned so much from this particular forum over the years that I continue to share and still welcome and CC.

The important thing to realize here is that these photos are shot this way on purpose. While I am always learning, and always perfecting my art/craft, I feel that at this point in my career the creative gap is very small. This means that what I visualize versus what I shoot are almost identical. This is why in this case I dont care about the under exposure because I wanted it this way. When I first started here the photos may have looked like this but it was unintentional. So before you CC someone with saying 'poor shot', understand what they were trying to do first. a corporate or senior portrait? Yeah, needs to be correctly exposed. But a editorial piece? There are no "rules", or it is ok to break them...

But at the end of the day, keep the name calling out of it. It doesnt help anyone and just because someone disagrees with you does not warrant name calling. We are all here to learn and share from each other. Lets leave it at that.

Phil its Brutal... Its great that I have an agent and I get booked but the demands of some of these large corportate clients are borderline insane! My biggest issue is that everyone continues to think that shadows are a photos enemy.. I say this as your style/signature uses shadowing in such a creative way and it adds such a dramatic element to it! So the creative element gets dimmed quite a bit in my shoots, but its well worth it for my book. I am not allowed to share any of the photos until they get published, but I look forward to gaining feedback on them here.
