Refurbished

I would look into a refurbished 7D far less expensive than a new unit.

All my cameras have been purchased as Canon refurbished units and I have been extremely happy with them - happier than with the two cameras I previously bought new! The "new" cameras needed to be sent into the Canon Service Center within the first 90 days I had them...

I have had absolutely no problems with the three refurbished cameras I have purchased. I have more confidence in the quality control at the Canon Service Centers than the QC at the Canon Assembly Line...

Make sure the refurbished unit is a Canon Factory refurb, not a reboxed unit from some dealer.

The Refurbished 7D cameras are best purchased from Adorama. $1,199.00 USD

Adorama includes their own one-year warranty with the camera. There is free shipping and you do not pay state sales tax unless you live in New York State...

I can't say that I was disappointed in the 60D performance but I wanted the better/faster AF with high school football and soccer season coming up in my area. When considering the used 7D I picked up included a grip, 3 OEM batteries and an EOS Count of 2298 for an out of pocket cost of $475 after trading my 60D and it was a no brainer.

I have been satisfied with the AF performance of my 60D. I used a 85 1.8 and a 135L for basketball, hockey and a 70-300 under good lights. What lenses do you use with the 7D in sporting situations? Is it noticeably faster (AF) than the 60D. I have upgraded to a Σ70-200 2.8 OS. I am just wondering how much better the 7D's AF can be. I do plan on getting a 5D3 when they show up on the Canon refurbished site.
