The tried and true: Linksys WRT54GL LINK (external link)
Ive owned and setup many (not because they went bad but because I moved) over the years and run DD-WRT on some. The one I have now covers my 3000+ sqft house and out to the street with great signal strength all around. Never had a problem streaming netflix to multiple devices (PS3, Oppo, Apple TV, etc) at the same time, nor any other issues in the ones I have setup at my grandparents or parents houses.

I had one of those and agree it's extremely reliable. I even had the longer antennae for better range.

I have the Apple Extreme also, but have been thinking of upgrading.

Is there anything out that's considerably faster?

Chet, just resort to morse code, buddy.

Actually you can ;). First send out a message that the following is an image and then send every pixel encoded in hexadecimals - two characters per colour channel, per pixel in 8bit.
Could be a fun project :).

Just to convert and image to text in the digital world, one would need to go from 24 bits (3 Byte)per pixel to 48 bits (6 Byte) per pixel. Not too bad :D
