I had to wait a couple of days before I posted this. on Sunday morning as I was getting our gear ready to go shoot, I snagged one of my camera bag straps and my entire gear tumbled to the tile floor, now mind you, it was only a 1 to 2 foot fall, but, my Canon 70-300 IS USM(4 days old), my Canon 50mm and my camera all hit the floor at the same time. My camera survived, my 50mm cracked in half and my new IS lens is being sent out in hopes of repairs.(something got knocked loose inside). Now, I'm normally the one that is most paranoid about being careful. As I looked down in Horror at what had happened in the blink of an eye, all I could do is just sit there. This is a HUGE Thank You to my Wife, who rallied the troops, got me out of the house and that same day found a lens for me to use.

That's a real shame Rick. Hope the 70-300 comes back well. Will your home insurance cover any damages?

Thanks Peter, I dont think so, it all depends on the amount of the repair. Thanks again.:D

I managed to find a company that would insure my camera gear as part of my contents. $1500 for the camer and another $1500 plus for the glass I have. Insured for accidental damage, fire and theft. My excess is $200 I think.

You did very well, I should have thought of possible problems before this. I will have to research that, thanks for the info.

Thanks for the kind words. I will get insurance, very soon. My saving Grace in all of this, is my Wife. She went out and bought me a Canon 90-300 lens the same day. I found out its hard to take pictures when you spend all day kicking yourself.;)

Sorry to hear that, BE. Good thing is the 70-300 should be still under warranty and Canon might cover the cost of repair. I know how you feel (maybe not exactly, but close). I recently purchased a 135L and there is some focusing problem. I had a very high expectation, but I end up shipping this brand new baby back to Canon for repair:cry: . I am also considering getting insurance coverage for my equipment as well, as you never know what's gonna happen next. Hope you feel better, and wish you and your family a happy holiday.

You are a lucky man; she must be quite resourceful to find a lens on short notice in these parts.....that reminds me, I need to insure my equipment.

Thank you very much Leo. I'm not sure if the warranty covers that kind of damage though. sorry about your problems as well. I learned a few things on Sunday. I have a great wife. buy insurance on your equipment, no matter how careful you are, Life happens, thanks for your very kind words. I hope you and yours have a happy holiday as well.
