Watch the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OeSodne7wA (external link)

And here is one from Canon, showing the 320EX(videon #2):
http://www.learn.usa.canon.com …its_with_speedlites.shtml (external link)

I really want a Canon Speedlite 320EX, 3 major things that makes me want to buy it:

1. The external sync/shutter button were you can move freely with the flash hand-held and fire off the camera anywhere you want.

2. Simplicity

3. Work as a slave with the built-in flash

As a bonus i could add the first ever flash with a led lamp, although it's small, it could make a differance in some cases, and also the metal base.

The cons:
Almost as expensive as 430EX
No auto zoom range
Lesser led lamps (not as strong)

BUT.. the reason i posted this is your guys opinion, preferably you that own/have used the 320EX.

opinions please :)

Been looking at the YN series aswell.. but can they be set as slaves with built-in flash?
Do they have a remote shutter button?

I've also heard that they are very plastic and alot of people who bought them have reported malfunction and easily broken units.

The YN flashes are made out of the same plastic that the Canon flashes are. There were some QC problems with early YN units but I have a YN 560 and it has worked perfectly for over a year.
Who really wants to carry their flash for a remote trigger? ???

Well, it's more of a neat feature if you ask me.. to be able to move around the flash hand-held while taking pictures.
Canon seem to think it's a great idea... i don't see the big minus?

All manufacturers think gimmicks are a good idea if they sell product.
First you have to be in front of the camera for the remote to work just like all other IR remotes. I guess if you are into self portraits this will be ok.
Next it activates the shutter timer that eventually trips the shutter. The picture might be gone before the timer expires.
It could just be me, but my experience with multifunction devices is that they do several things in a mediocre manner.
If this Swiss army knife flash works for you, great. You asked for opinions and you have mine.

The trigger function seems like a handy bonus to me. It can replace external triggers in some situations which removes a point of failure from the equation. It also has manual mode via camera controls that I'd love to have on my old 380EX. It doesn't seem that there's anything bad about the flash; it's just that third party offers at the same price have more to offer.

I asked for opinions from someone that used it/own it.

Too me it sounds like your just discard it because of "gimmics" and the low price/it not being a 580 or a 600EX.

If you have used it, then fine, i appreciate the opinion.

i dont know why you would use a flash as a remote shutter

you can get a cheap ir one for 10$ or get rf603's for cheap as well

do a quick google - that usually helps me when i look for information

it seems you are so set on this flash - and you are just here trying to disprove people and justify your reasoning in buying one to be honest

Too little bang for the buck. The added features seem more like a novelty, when you buy a flash you should be looking for the best flash for the money.

Your right, I do not own it. It saw enough of it when I tried it at the store to know that it was not the flash for me.
Now that I know the spirit that you are asking for opinions, I know how to answer. I worked for someone that asked these same questions.
It is Great. At that price I would buy two. :)

If i was set on buying it, why would i ask?
I really want it. yes, i got friends who own the 430EX and they are satisfied... but since i'm just a hobbyphotographer, why go for the best right away?
Too me it seems that alot of users on these forum HAVE to have the most expensive and everything cheaper is crap or just gimmics.

I still havent got a reply from someone that own it that could give me an honest opinion.

But sure, i don't have to ask here, i could just go out and buy it and get my own opinion on it.

the fact that you dismiss any opinion that is against it - says one thing

a lot of the folks here use yn60's which are 40-60$ a pop so i love how you generalize

people don't get your flash because they read the reviews and see that it isn't great bang for your buck

the people in this forums are more bang for buck conscious than getting the best equipment

they get something better because they will save more money doing so than just continually upgrading and upgrading

as being said i considered the 320 and when i read more and more about it and it's alternatives i realized i could way more for the amount of $$ it cost
