Exposure to the white point?

Just wondering if there is anyway (technique or whatever) to set auto exposure to expose to the whitest/brightest point that the camera sees?

You could use spot metering to meter the highlight and then lock the exposure using "AEL", also play around with exposure compensation, once you have figured out what exposure you want, you can leave it at this setting.

I would use Manual mode, Live View with Live Histogram and adjust Av & Tv to get just the exposure that I wanted.

Not sure exactly what you are asking... But the highlight priorty custom setting sound like what you want.

Or do you mean you want the camera to "properly" expose what would be the highlights in the image.
