For some reason I cannot get my pictures up on my threads anymore. I host my pictures through picasa and copy the URL but when I start a thread and press "preview thread" no pictures show up, just the url still. Can anyone give me any advice or shortcuts as I am getting pretty frustrated. Thanks

Anyone? Give me a quick run-down of procedure so I can make sure I am not just making a dumb mistake because I am tired.

Do you have the url surrounded with the image tags?

IMAGE NOT FOUND

I do. The URL I am getting from picasa seems unreasonably long. It used to be I could just right-click the picture and copy image address and enter that in the image box that pops up when you hit the image icon on the thread. It has been a while since I posted an image on here so it is likely I am doing something wrong. If there is a better hosting option I am open for that as well. Thanks.

Wouldn't it just be so much easier to add the photo as an attachment? I don't understand why that isn't done far more often. What advantage could there possibly be to going thru a photo-hosting site?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

You mean besides the incredibly tight restrictions on file size and the inconvenience of having to re-upload the image every time you want to share it?

I just tried it and my image shows up fine in the preview.

The image link box has "http://" when it first comes up. Are you deleting that and pasting in your link?

+ you get to post up to 8 images, instead of only two.
In the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of both totaling 8 per thread. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are group threads, like "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.
You may add a few additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post and request.

it's irritating to delete but I suppose it's there for new posters

You shouldn't have to delete it as it's already selected. Just hit Ctrl-V.

I don't think Picasa really allows static links. I beleive the links are dynamic, which means they would only work for a few minutes. At least that is what I experienced when I tried using Picasa. You will probably need to use Flickr or photobucket if you want to embed photos in threads.

I'd have to resize and compress every single one of my pics I want to upload here, just for uploading here, and the compression would render them useless for any other application.
