It's a bit of a crop, and I wish it was a little clearer but I have kept coming back to this shot I took a while ago, which I've always resisted in posting but which I'm posting now because there's just something in this I like.

The crab was on some rocks as the tide came in and waves crashed against said rocks, sending spray everywhere that was lit up by the very low, setting sun. Lighting was rough, as in dim, but the way the spray lit up got my attention, then the way this chap sat facing the crashing waves that were about to sweep him away really struck a chord.

The other crabs scuttled away and tried to seek refuge in nooks and crannies, but not this guy. It was as if he knew that the sea would get him regardless and, rather than try to run, he decided to face it head on, almost in a show of futile defiance.

Well, that's what I read into it anyhow....

Thanks Matt - it actually is straight, lol, it was the rock that wasn't and I did rotate it but it lost some of its feel when straight, somehow, so left it was it was in actuality.

A beautiful image Andrew, shows a good eye for a shot, I like the light reflecting on the spray, you can see it's a natural slope, so no straightening needed.

It is a superb shot. I wonder how did you keep your camera safe from sea water?

Many thanks, I actually zoomed through the splashes, thankfully, which also helped get the shallow DoF (not that DoF is reliant on that of course, should say that before I get jumped on, lol).
