Anyone using this lens, and if so what are you're thoughts on its performance?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Simon.

An Interesting question the whole area of sub 35mm with Canon.

I was leaning towards to EF 20mm. Then I started thinking the EF 17-40 has similar sharpness at the wide end so possibly go for that instead and get a zoom. OK vignetting and distortion will be higher. (See this review http://www.wlcastleman.com/equip/reviews/17-40/) (external link).

I notice quite a few people having trouble with 17-40 build quality though.

I am still sitting on the fence and would like to here more from other on both lenses.

Its a great lens, solid and gives nice results. I have to say though that image quality is matched by the kit lens, when stopped down a bit but it is well built. I can't speak for L glass but I doubt it gives similar results...

How do you find colour quality through the 20mm Neilyb?

I have heard some reviews slag about this. On my old FD system I had a Tokina 17mm which was a good lens but did not have the purest of colours. I wonder if this will follow through with other traditional ultra wide angle designs using standard glass.
