Some more shots of one of the Orchids on my windowsill that has come out for Christmas. Each pic is focus stacked from 5 shots.
I've kept the 3-D shots small- if you want to try bigger ones look in my Flickr account below.

Thanks TongChen,
I've seen pics of orchid farms in Asia- not sure if they are all native to Asia though.

Thanks Bruce,
No I took these early this morning using a couple of halogen table lamps for lighting. These work great for macro shots but completely screw the auto white balance. Had to change the colour temp during RAW processing.

superb - is that easier than doing a custom white balance in camera? You can get daylight lamps quite reasonably:

don't know how accurate they really are.http://www.stitches.co.uk/designit/system/index.html (external link)

This one is under £30:

Thanks Racketman,
Doing colour temp changes during RAW processing is a doddle. Problem with doing custom white white balance is I quite often use a mix of these lamps and sunlight. being a bit tight with money I found £3.50 for the table lamps more seductive. :) but thanks for the suggestion- I just do not do set piece lighting often enough to justify real lighting.

These stereos are getting really good. The alignment makes them ping much better. :-)There is a WV on the first one. All it need was to be pushed a further "2" on the top slider bar. Would be nice to see them bigger but we are somewhat limited by the 100MB ruling.

Wonderful shots of the orchid, the stacking makes them pleasing to view.

Thanks Balliolman,
Theyare a bit easier to align when done on a tripod. I'm not limited by the posting size here as I host the pics in my Flickr account but the bigger size was just a bit to big I thought. You can see larger ones here

Thanks Hidden forms,
It's odd but I think the focus stacking in this case at least has taken away the sense of depth (which obviously you get back in the 3-D pics). I assume part of our perception of depth in 2-D shots is given by OOF elements.

All are excellent.
In these shots did you take the shots for stacking by changing focus manually or by moving the camera back and forth ?

Regards

Thanks Ahmad,
No I changed focus with the focus ring- just fairly small changes, I do sometimes use a macro stage to do the same thing at fixed focus and move the camera. I normally just zoom the focus through the flower to see what significant focus points there are before actually starting the sequence of pics. It does not seem to matter to the focus stacking prog as it resizes for you anyway.
