Very open question.....

It is a top quality l lens i believe! It will bw excellent if you need something in the 24-05 range with a constant aperture of f/4.0

Tell us more about what you wanna use it for etc...

Cameraless for the time being.

It wouldn't work without a camera, but it should be great for all types of portraits stopped down to f/8-f/11.

If you're shooting small product, perhaps a macro lens would be a good choice.

I just ordered a 5dmkll from b&h with that as a kit lens. I am use to shooting win a24-70 f.2.8 or the 70-200 f2.8. I shot mostly portraits and thought most of my shots are done at 5.6-f11 so this lens might work just as well as my prior 24-70.

It's pretty decent/good near the center at f5.6 and the edges get better as you stop down. Still no where near as sharp across the frame as a good prime though.

It does have quite a bit of vignetting, even stopped down it has enough for me to want to correct it occasionally.

I don't do studio stuff so I can't comment if it is good enough for you, but I'm certainly happy enough with it for family portraits (usually stopped down to f7.1 or so). If I were doing commercial studio work where I didn't need to change FL quickly (kids don't have the patience to wait around for long), then I would choose 2-3 primes instead though.

I would describe the lens as a 'good jack of all trades, but master of none'.
