Do you know if they are changing the name or otherwise indicate which units are updated?

I highly doubt it. When they fixed the capacitor issue with the YN565 they did not rename it. I don't see them renaming a flash after a software update.

I would not expect to see it renamed, but there should be a revision or version # change that was obvious to a user that was looking for it.

Very easy to find out the corrected flash.
Fixed flash available from November 2012.
Turn the flash head 90 degrees and see the date of manufacture.

I think iituner may have the answer there, because stock that go back for a firmware update would likely get a new sticker.

But you would need to check with the seller anyway as that would be the only way to know before you buy. Or buy direct from the YN ebay store.

Can anyone confirm that the auto focus projection light (red) for the YN-568EX actually covers ALL focus points.
The reason I ask is that the YN565EX only covers the centre point.

I guess that depends on how your AF points are distributed. At least with my 5DMKII only the center point is covered.

I JUST ordered 2 of these flashes from Yongnuo yesterday... paid the 4-6 day FedEx shipping too.... Does this mean I have to ship them back a week after I get them???

Did you order from the YN official store?

If so, it would be serious if they has shipped old units, knowing that bug-fixed ones were becoming available. As the only YN company shop, they may be getting the first units off the production line.

Ask them, and let us know.;)

Wow they responded pretty fast (within minutes!)

Dear Elias,

Yes, Your order has not yet been sent.
Because we are waiting the newest YN568EX.

Best Regards

Sort of defeats the purpose of paying for fedex delivery... lol

Make sure you email them (prefferably at night time for faster responses!) and ask about the discount. I did and they gave me 6%
