I like the vibrant colors you captured, and we have some good eye detail.
The feet look a little OOF, get down low for these shots, you should be on your chin!.
A photographer once told me "take it low, or it wont go".

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "obsession"

I know I should have been down lower, problem was I do not know whose rooster this is nor his disposition. He wandered in when I was shooting other things along a picnic area near a river. I was a little nervous about going "face to face"

I love the colors, looks like a good capture minus the on board camera flash. Creates very unattractive shadows. Do you have a flash you could take off camera?

The flash was a 430EX on the camera. I had not even thought about using an off camera flash. I have not had the opportunity to play with off camera flash at all. Guess that should be one of the next things I work on....

The POV would be better if it was lower and the flash shadows are very distracting. Try off-camera flash. The bird is tack sharp with great details and colors (if not a bit over-saturated).

Are the whites a little hot? Might want to check your histogram to see where you are at. Or my monitor is making me blind.... :) just kidding.

I hear you on getting low to the subject. I don't have a UV filter on my lens for beak pecking protection. Seems like a good use for that filter BTW

A little more editing. Toned down the whites and reduced the shadow.
