bought the 135L last week, been loving it since. It is just an amazing lens. It is sharp wide open and great for portraits. I initially bought the 70-200 f/4 IS for portraits use, but now I am very happy with the 135L, wondering should I sell it to get some extra cash for something else.

You could always replace it with the non IS if you feel like you might need a 70-200 zoom occasionally, that would still free up ~$500 for other purposes.

Or if you don't feel like you need a zoom in that range anymore, then yes, sell it and use the money for something you do need.

Used to own the non IS version, exchanged for the IS version after a couple days. I will only use the IS for this particular lens, non IS just doesn't work for me. I think if I am selling the IS, I may get the 35L.

I know I would not sell the f/4 L IS. It is one hell of a lens.

haha I've been thru it all. First owned the F4 IS, sold it and went for 135L. Sold that as well and finally settled for the 2.8II :p

The 135L is pretty much redundant once you get the best zoom ;)

^^This. The 135L is a stunning lens, but it doesn't have the versatility of the 70-200, and it becomes tricky to use in very low light conditions. The f4 IS lets you take sharp shots at 1/30s @ 200mm.

I am also contemplating on selling my 70-200 F4 IS and would save the money to get the 70-200 F2.8 II...I love the IQ of this lens but sometimes F4 is just isn't enough....

Though I have no complain about this lens...at 70-200 F4 it is the best in its class....

Yes it is an excellent lens indeed. It is just a thought at the moment. I guess depends on how much I want the 35L. Lol

i would say keep it and buy a 135L

I'm a 50/135 portrait shooter myself, but I'm also planning on getting a 70-200 f4L IS for landscape/portraits as there has been times when I wish I had something little wider or narrower than the 135
