Red-shouldered hawk, 4 pics

As he was being mobbed by crows he took refuge into the tree. He was quite fidgity and let me get close. He was much more worried about the crows then me. I wish the light were better but I was lucky to get that close.

Great shots, I tried to get close to one today and was not so luckey.
I also used the 20D, 100-400 and 1.4TC but my shots ended up kind of blurry,
what settings did you use?

Yeah those are nice. You were very lucky to get so close to one of the most beautiful hawks. I don't see too many of those around.

Wow, nice job Paul. Yours was more friendly than the one in my area. I couldn't get closer than 200 yards from him. Maybe i need to bring some crows with me.

Thanks marco, Stan, Demitri, N and Rebel. My experience with these guys is you can get close but they they take off like a bat out of H.... Anyway as luck would have it I was pulling into the parking lot of McGrath State Beach when I heard the ruckus.
