Great series Jay. I like the perspective of the Junco.

Thanks Rick, actually I was above a couple of these. I was waiting for the sunrise to clear the trees and to light this berry bush. I had noticed a few birds working it and the junco came in then the bunting and they were lower than my setup so I took the shots I could without moving or spooking them off.

Thanks Dan, I setup for about mid bush height and these guys moved around pretty quick and it worked out well!

Nice series, Jay - I think your Junco is actually a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (see my post on this page) - yours looks more like an adult female - whereas mine was apparently a juvenile male. Where in Illinois are you? - I grew up in northern Illinois and went to school at SIUC.

Here's a similar shot - note the juvenile bill (which still seems large to me)

Very many congratulations on the first Jay!

Each and everyone are good in their own right, but that Indigo Bunting is so very well executed. It has to therefore, be designated my favorite.

Thanks Lil, I have been really fortunate to have a state park within about 10 minutes of my home. I never reliazed the variety out there before. There is a picnic area that has a bunch of oak trees and to hear the nuhatches just a talkin away pretty cool, they just aren't use to people though so pretty jumpy.
