Im sure it was just a typo, but the farther away, the MORE depth of field you have (meaning more will be in focus).
I should have worded it better. My point was because you'll have more dof from a distance you'll have less to be concerned about.

The church is quite small, in fact the smallest I've ever been to and the position I've been told to stand is actually pretty close and slightly to one side meaning the B&G won't be on the same plane. At most i reckon it's 2-2.5 meters. Wedding Photographer Nottingham & Derby - Martin Cheung

I never go above 30 for the NR value due to losing details, then make sure I apply sharpening and also a fair amount of clarity (24-32) to regain the details. Also, the 'masking' slider in the sharpening settings is a godsend. G: Canon 7D | 60D | 70-200 F4 L | 580 EX II x2

Last Saturday with 5D3, 24-70 F/2.8 on the boat... after NR is ok but details are gone on ISO1600 and NR is only 50% in LR or maybe I was too picky lol I think you are being WAY too picky about noise. If you shot it right, you should have very little noise at 1600 on the 5d3. If you underexposed it by 2 stops I can see that, but I dont use NR on anything really and havent heard one single complaint. Bryan

Sep 13, 2012 00:34 | #52 on the 5D3, 6400 looks like ISO 100 to me especially using my 85 f/1.8, no NR at all. | SONY A7SIII(2) | A73 | A6000 | Sony A7IV | Sigma105 | FE1635F4 | Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 | Tamron 17-28 Tamron 28-75 | FE50F1.8 | Sony 16035F4PZ | SEL30mm F3.5 Macro | Canon 24mm TSE | Laowa 15mm Shift

I honestly think with the fast primes ans the high ISO support of the modern cameras there is practically no need for flash (unless for creative means of course) for reportage photography which is what I shoot. I don't even take a flash to weddings any longer - but I don't do the creative stuff that some do, that would of course, require OCF etc. Good thread and enjoyed the read. : Follow on Twitter
