? Manual Exposure in 'M' mode on T4i ?

It's essential to avoid TSchrief's use of Exposure compensation, since there actually are cameras that will allow you to do EC in manual mode. Not Canon cameras, but some other brand(s) have it. They simply offset the meter in M mode if you apply EC, so the meter will instead center when your exposure i -1 from standard, or whatever you set.

So that really is EC in manual mode. Adjusting the exposure is something else.

Well, I certainly agree with that. It is always better to know how to use the equipment you own; to use its features and limitations to the best of your own ability.

Yes, my OM-3 is like that. The reason is that Olympus reused the film speed dial from the OM-4, which was primarily an Av-mode camera. Not once did I ever use it, but it was there.

I don't think "exposure compensation" existed as a phrase before auto-exposure cameras became available. TSchrief is misusing the term.

If it is provided in M mode it's more like a light meter offset than anything else.
