I'm looking to add a fast prime lens to my collection For indoor family shots, outdoor street photography, museums where you can't use flash, that sort of thing.
Here's what I'm thinking at the moment: I shoot with a 1Div so a 1.3 crop factor means the 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.2 and 85mm f/1.2 will effectively be 45.5mm, 65mm and 110.5mm. Good as the 85mm f/1.2 is (and I love some of the results I've seen from that) 110.5mm is too long and would mean I'd have to be too far back from the subjects. The 35mm f/1.4 looks interesting but that focal length suggests that close portrait work would make noses longer etc so that's not ideal. Which leaves the 50mm f/1.2. I've never read such polorised opinions on any lens. Some love it, some hate it. Complaints that it's too soft from some and acceptably sharp from others. I do want a sharp lens so I'm looking for opinions here please, especially from those who've used any or all of these on a 1.3 crop. I can only go for one lens and I want an L, so what do you think?

You've narrowed it down yourself, the 50L is the ideal choice on the 1D4 for your needs. As you say, the 85L is a bit long for what you want and you might find the 35L a little short IMO. I have 3 fast primes, 24L, 50L and 85L and it's the 50L that's on my 1D4 most of the time. It's great for chasing my 10 month old daughter around the house! I have no problems with sharpness either, it's a cracker.
