Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me extend a photo a little on all four sides to fit better on canvas. I'm trying to put photo on 16x20 but it cuts off just a little to much of it because of the gallery wrap. I believe the gallery wrap is 1.5".
I tried to do it in photoshop with a tutorial on youtube but it doesn't look quite right. Doesn't help I don't know how to use photoshop either:p.

Thanks :)

Adam

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do. Is 16x20 your "display size", so that you need that size then borders of 1.5 inches on each dimension to wrap?

The 16x20 size means that you will have to crop the image to that aspect ration, a 4x5 aspect ratio, which is "shorter" than that of a DSLR "native" aspect ratio of 2:3, which would produce a 16x24 print.

So, you would need to crop your image to the proper aspect ratio and then "expand the borders", using one of different Photoshop methods, to give you the "wrapping" borders.

I imagine you want the finished canvas to measure 19" x 23""? Personally I'd carry the coloured edge around onto the back to make absolutely sure that no white canvas shows.

In Photoshop first increase the canvas size by the 3" (1.5" x 2) both ways. Then simply sample a 1.5" strip on each side, copy it, invert it horizontally (or vertically for the top and bottom) and drag it across so that it covers the white. It does not need to be very precise, only to hide the white.
