I was excited to receive my little sister's wedding announcement today. I hadn't heard who they had hired to do the shots and was curious how they would turn out. I thought they might have asked me to do them, but I figured they probably got someone good. Then I opened it and found a poor black and white conversion of a photo they had taken of themselves! The kind where you put your camera out in front of you at arms length, you know. Direct auto flash and all. I died a little bit inside. Especially since she knows I did my sister-in-law's engagements for free. I am beginning to wonder if anyone is going to photograph the actual wedding.

Some people just don't value photography and nothing you do or so will change that fact.

Usually these same people are suicidal after their wedding though and SERIOUSLY regret not investing properly.

Why do you care what your sister decides to do? They are obviously happy together and so you should be as well. Don't ask or say anything. Just go and bring your camera. Have a great time and take some snap shots for yourself and if there is no other photographer, use the shots as a gift to your sister later on, just because.

I care because she's my sister! It is not like I am mad, I am just disappointed that she doesn't care enough about photos to put even a drop of effort into it. I bet she already had the photo.

I dont think my brother cared much about photography, but I took it upon myself to make sure he got great stuff. He may not care too much now, but in the future I really think he will.

I had the same happen. The family member was really pleased, and the extended family was ecstatic, but honestly I think the couple would have been fine with cell phone photos from guests. Not everyone cares.

I remember reading your blog post on that. That was very nice of you Bryan!

Taylor, do you plan on discussing the idea of you shooting your sister's wedding with her?
