Canon EOS 60D Odd Spots Even with lens cap on

Hi there!;p
I have purchased a Canon EOS 60D which has arrived yesterday....
Overall the camera appears to be fine and so is the lens (17-85mm f/4-5.6)
However, after a couple of shots i noticed some weird spots, particularly a white one at the top right part and another purple one in of all the images.....(i have found a red one too)

if you click download and look on the upper right corner you will see the pixel im talking about.
i thought i had uploaded the one i put ome red recrangles around the odd spots sry XS

I had that on a Canon SX10 IS years ago. I sent it in for servicing and came back fixed. Since you just bought the camera. Exchange it.

Thanks for the link. I looked at the picture(?) you posted. I had a similar problem with my T1i. It looks like 'hot pixels' to me. The fix:
Set camera to M mode.
Go to the second yellow 'wrench' menu.
Select "Sensor Cleaning"
Select "Clean Manually"
Put the camera down for about 5 minutes.
Shut camera off.

When you turn it back on, they should be gone. This process remaps the sensor and maps out 'hot pixels'. Some hot pixels is (are?) normal. On a new camera, I think I would complain about it. On a used or older camera, just map them out and forget it. You'd have to have thousands of them, clustered near each other, to be visible in a print. Remember, you have about 18 million of them still working fine.

Just out of curiosity....is this a sensor issue? i mean what sort of a problem is it?

Yes. Hot or stuck pixels are a part of every DSLR. You may have none, 1, or hundreds of them. For a casual shooter like me, they are not a problem. If you are making serious money from your shots, it may matter to you. They will, and do, accumulate over time. I remapped them on my T1i about 2 years ago and haven't seen another one since. I do not know if they are from manufacturing defects, cosmic rays or voodoo. I do know they are a fact of life. On a new camera I would complain, Canon can always map them out and sell it as a refurb. In all likelihood, the next owner will never know they were there.

One item. If remapping them did not solve the problem, it may be something else. Talk to the retailer, or Canon warranty service.

In all honesty the only reason im infuriated about it is because i used it less than a day and now im*probably gonna have to send it back for (hopefully) an exchange:s

Yep, at 200% mag I actually count six pixels that are acting up. Hot pixels are normal...you just can't put 18 million of these things down and not expect some bad ones.

If that image represents the full image I think you will find that it is within Canon's tolerance. Give Canon a call before returning. To be truthfull the next camera might be worse and your seller will only exchange the body a limited number of times.

The other thing I would do is use the camera for a week and then recheck to make sure it isn't getting any worse. By the way, on virtually any normal photograph you likely won't even be able to find them visually.
