Does anyone know with any certainty as to if the Canon 1DX comes with a 1 or 2 year warranty as Canon Europe are saying 1 year
CPS didn't know and I spoke to Park cameras who I brought my 1DX from and was told 2 years then some idiot told me 1 year even though I told him I had been told earlier in the day by one of his co workers it was 2 years
Was also told by someone else who brought one from Calumet he got a 2 year warranty
Does anyone KNOW please

Best to look at the warranty card and see what it says.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

It actually says 1 year on the warranty card/paperwork (brought from Park cameras, UK) but it did with the 1Ds mkIII ??
seems strange Canons flagship camera would only come with a 1 year warranty when Nikon's flagship camera comes with a 2 year warranty ?

I would guess than that's it's one year. This seems in line with all the equipment I have purchased but I know that it can be different dependent on location but I would think that the warranty card would reflect that.

Canon's most expensive L lenses only come with a 1 year warranty, while even my $200 50mm 1.8 Nikon lens comes with a 5 year warranty.

It seems with most camera stuff, they either fail early on, or way outside of the warranty. You don't see a lot of stuff last a year and a half and then die. I'm sure your 1Dx will be fine.

I highly doubt that many people are making there gear choices based on the warranty. My experience has been with most photo gear that if something is going to happen it is going to happen within the first year.

From Canon Canada (external link)

For U.S.A. & Canada Only
Your EOS Digital Camera , when delivered to you in new condition in its original container, is warranted against defects in materials or workmanship as follows: for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase, defective parts or a defective EOS Digital Camera returned to Canon U.S.A. or Canon Canada, or their authorized EOS Digital Camera service providers, as applicable, and proven to be defective upon inspection, will be repaired with new or comparable rebuilt parts or exchanged for a refurbished EOS Digital Camera, as determined by Canon U.S.A. or Canon Canada, or the authorized EOS Digital Camera service center.

From Canon UK (external link)

1. Warranty period
This warranty is valid for one year from the original purchase date of the new product (three years in case of projectors), as evidenced by the above mentioned documents.

--------

Irrespective of what someone may say I would say to believe what you can see in print. Thus 1 year. I hardly ever look at the warranty card and simply file it away and register everything online.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I totally agree when you say that you doubt that many people are making there gear choices based on the warranty, I just find it strange that Canon UK gave a 2 year warranty on the 1Ds mkIII and Nikon are giving the same on there flagship model at present but Canon only 1 year on the 1DX, I still love the 1DX irrespective of the warranty period :-)

My exact thoughts. This is why most electronics come with a 1 year warranty. If it fails it will fail within the first year. If it does not, it'll last a long, long time!

If it's going to break, it'll happen within a year.

After that, what's a $250 fix to someone who can afford to buy a $6,800 camera? If you're a professional, which is who the camera is marketed to, it's a write off or your employer is paying for it anyway.

Just how I see it.
