Common Nighthawk

A passerby saw me shooting some photos at our local state park and assumed (correctly) that I am a birder. He told me about a hawk that was injured and being mobbed by crows. As it turns out I am also a first responder for a bird rehab center so I had him take me to the bird. Well, the bird was not a hawk, per se, but this common nighthawk. It also was not apparently injured as it flew away when I got close enough to check it over for injuries. It few well, but not far. When it settled on a less visible perch, I took a few shots.
