Sorry of this thread is in the wrong place but didn't know where else to put it...

So I took some pictures today with my new T4i and 15-85 lens. Haven't noticed this problem before and wonder if you guys/gals can shed some light on what these two spots might be. They show up on all the pictures in the exact same place where the sky is blue like it is in this photo. Seems something is either on the lens or the inside of the camera. Ugh. My first dSLR so I'm not sure what the heck this is. Of course the the spots are not apparent on pictures where there is a lot of detail but I noticed these right away when I viewed the photos full screen.

Any help would be appreciated. I've only had my new gear for a week and a half.

pictures would normally help...but i'd bet it's sensor dust...they should be more apparent stopped down....you can try and run the sensor cleaning function a couple times to get rid of them...or take a rocket blower, and try and blow them out if that doesn't work...

if none of that works, you can get the sensor cleaned, or clean it yourself if you're brave

Some will say that is dust on the sensor.

After zooming in I can say with 99% certainty that you captured Martian spacecraft.

I've been known to make mistakes from time to time. :p

Jeeez...only put the lens on the first time. Never have taken it off. The sensor cleaner has run many times. This would be a big bummer. Think I should being it to the camera store and have them look at it? Not comfortable at all messing with the sensor. Dayum.

Looks like dust. Do you have a rocket blower?

Actually I just got one from B&H in the mail today. Haven't even opened the box. I must be clairvoyant.

What is the procedure? Makes me nervous. My new baby... waaah.

Place camera in "Cleaning Mode" via the menu, which will lock the mirror up. Take body cap/lens off of camera. Hold upside down, and (what I do) sweep the blower across the opening while squeezing it.

Just don't touch the sensor with the blower while doing it.

And don't fear dust, it happens no matter what you do and cameras can even ship with a little dust, so it may net be anything you've done. It's standard maintenance like putting air in tires.

OK...well I'm bringing it to the camera store tomorrow and have them put the air in the tires or at least show me first hand how to do it. I usually go to the gas station but not in this case.

BTW, Alien Space ships? How the heck do they get in there? Lens hasn't even been off the camera.

Yeah I have a lot to learn.

Thanks guys.

I admit this sucks. Could at least have waited for a month or more.

It's really not uncommon! No need to take it to the store. Just do a YouTube search for cleaning your sensor! You'll be right as rain in no time!

Unfortunately this is a fact of life with digital cameras (well SLRs at least). Even if you get it cleaned, it will happen again sooner or later.

with that "halo" around the dot I will have to guess it is foreign material on the sensor somehow.
