Nice shots Phil. Lots of summer tans! Are you in the drought area?

Nice captures - good action and well exposed! What type of lighting did the gym have? My daughter plays HS volleyball, which I shoot a lot. Lighting from gym to gym can be really iffy. It's a tough sport to shoot - I'd be very pleased with these.

Yes, it was off the scale dry until yesterday during the matches when we got 2 1/2 inches of rain. Halleluia!

These are under fluorescent lights--the new type with the thin tubes. The color rendition seems OK but I like to be able to read the ball in my shots and end up using ISO 6400 at 1/1000 and roughly f/3.2 or so in order to stop action at 300mm.

NR is always a challenge. What do you think. Too much, or too little?

[BTW, The UPS man should deliver something to help with the noise in about 10 days or so.]

I think the last one looks great.
BTW, I shot HS football Friday night alongside a guy who had gotten a package from UPS to reduce noise. He was shooting 2 stops faster than I was. Can't wait to see his pics.

You will like the contents of the box from the UPS man.

I was able to go from shooting at 2500 with my 1DIII in my kid's gym to 8000 with no increase in undesirable noise, and actually a type of noise that cleans up better.

How much were the above pictures cropped?

You'll be cropping more with the new box contents, or carrying around bigger glass!

Some are pin sharp, some not. Guessing you had to crop a bit on the ones that aren't. Maybe it's motion blur but at 1/1000, who knows. I like #4, just wish her face was sharper. That darn net is always problematic.

What is this magic UPS box?

It's that $6,700 magic wand that UPS will bring to your door if you click the right boxes.

I've got a Mark IV, it's all the magic wand I need.
