I wonder if I can use my old lense (used it on AE1) 70-210 mm 1.4

Now I found this :

Don't waste your money on the cheap $29 adapter. Sell your FD lens and buy a Canon EF or EF-S lens that is designed for the 1100D. There are many third party options also, eg Sigma, Tamron, etc.

Canon EOS 7D | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM | EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS |
EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM | 250D | EF-S 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 USM | 580 EX II |

I use my old AE-1 FD lenses with my Canon 60D. I use an adapter - not this one and I am intrigued to see how well this works-and I loooove the way my pics come out, especially in B&W. Yes, the newer lenses are easier to use, but I like the feel of the old lenses and the fact that you have to manually focus sort of takes me back to the old days of film.
I say give it a shot and the worst that happens is that you do not like this type of photography and all you are out is $30 plus shipping.

Looking for light in all the right places.

I have been using FD on my 350D since 2007 and always been satisfied with the results. check these threads.

If I can get results like this, so can anyone else using a similar adapter.

Don't knock it unless you have tried it!

There are glass adapters (which will magnify and degrade the image) and glass-less adapters (which won't allow focusing to infinity).

Short version:

Can you use it with an adapter? Sure. Either w/ a glass piece that will degrade the image quality, or without glass but you will lose infinity focus.

Would it be worth it? Not for the lens in question.

For around $80 you can find an EF 70-210 F4, or a bit more around $150 and get a EF-S 55-250 IS. Both of those options would work much better on your camera, if you are looking to get a tele-zoom on a budget.
