Purchased a 400 2.8 IS off FM last Sunday. Lens arrived Wednesday and, apparently during shipping, the AF connections had come undone. Buyer and I decided to send it to Canon for repair (with the paperwork from the repair ticket enclosed) with the closest repair shop being Newport News, VA, so that's where it went. Shipped it UPS Express and it was delivered Friday morning at 9:04am and signed for.

As of today, there has been no update on the repair order. Nothing showing it was received, nothing showing anything has been done.

I'm probably being a little anxious due to the high value of the lens, but I would have thought the ticket would show as having been received. I know they say 24-48 hours for a tech to look it over and determine the problems and costs and i am on day 2.

How long would you wait to call Canon and ensure they got the package and get a status update?

In my limited experience Canon don't like telling anyone anything. They do a good job, but finding out about what was done afterwards is like pulling teeth.

I can only imagine that to find out while its still receiving medical attention would be even more difficult.

Well, I decided to call. Much to my shock, the original order number had been cancelled due to the fact that it was opened in the seller's name. Canon had opened a new one in my name with an entirely new case number and it had been out there since Friday. Glad they called to tell me given my phone number was included with the lens.

Oh well, it is in repair and should be back to me shortly.
