...having the trolly break down in-route to the reception.
We'ed finished the city shoot after the ceremony and were on the IKE headed west.
Trolly started to "smoke" then a big puff and the driver pulled off the e-way and onto a side street, then the engine gave up.

I was following in my car.

(Considering, the groom and bride weren't too stressed. We made it to the reception on time but missed some pictures around the golf course.

Here are the B&G making the most of the situation;

Excuse my harsh comments, as I am still learning as well(weddings that is, but not portraiture or camera mechanics) but this is your first time?

What equipment were you using? You have what looks to be quite a bit of PP. Don't compensate too much PP on a photograph that was not well lit. This photograph screams busy. Any other examples from the wedding?

Your comments aren't harsh so much as misguided. I think you are misunderstanding the intent of the post.
Its important that you read the whole sentence, the first part being the title for the thread.

I shoot between 30 and 50 wedding a year. And have for quite awhile. ( Have a look at my wedding portfolio here: www.dmwfotos.com (external link))
What I meant was, in all those weddings this is the first time a trolly, or other bridal party conveyance has broken down to the point that the bridal party was stranded and had to call family and friends for a ride.

There is a lot of post processing to give it a grungy look, since it was a grungy situation. And ya its busy, wedding party in the background on multiple cell phones, one of the grooms men holding the brides dress out of the way so it won't get into the spilled antifreeze from the blown engine, groom with the just married plaque that was on the trolly, and trolly dripping all over the road, with two belts handing out of the engine compartment after the failure. Sometimes busy is the intent. :-)

I think you are missing the point. I doubt that this will make it into their album, if it does there will be a little more work done, primarily to kill the fill flash glare on the trolly.

Just a record shot of a bad situation. :)

Why is the equipment I was using important?

It sounds like a crappy situation in terms of lost time, but for me I'd see it as an opportunity to get shots of the B+G and wedding party with the trolly. Do you have any of these shots you can share ? This one seems a bit point-and-shoot.

Christopher,
There are lots of shots in the can from the situation.
Haven't even shipped them to the studio yet so can't start posting them on the net.
As for getting them with the trolly, they were focused on getting rides. Although there were some humorous moments.

Picked this one because its most likely to go in the trash bin.

I like this shot a lot. I don't care about the technical details it has/hasn't, this is a shot that reveals the true personalities of the b&g. I love the chaos with smiles on their faces. It screams, "So the trolly broke down, we'll still be alright...right???"

I don't nearly shoot as many weddings as the OP, but when I do, I love when fun and extremely rare shots like this that pop up. Don't trash this one, as this is the one shot they will both remember you taking for as long as they talk about their day. Good on ya for capturing and styling it.

You know why I laughed ? Because Dmward posted his image here hoping to get some nice comments and then he had to say that he was going to trash that image anyways, dude, who gives a s"'#t what this people think here, just do your thing and be happy, save your time and headaches and don't post your images here if you re sensitive to the comments of the almighty photogs around here, not all of them but some.
Remember, you can't please everyone, but only your client need to be happy, remember that most of this people even hate guest with a camera lol, that's too funny, they call them Bobs lol, they re jealous of they craft like any other craft, really, I never seen people like this in my life.

If you don't take the pictures like they do or if you don't pp like they do...you are not a "Pro" sometimes I wonder who told them that they are pro.

So, just be happy with your work, your customers are, that's what matter.

This cooment is not for you Christopher, I am just trying to build some thickness on Dmward' s skin. Lol
