Hi All

I am trying to calibrate my new Pro9000ii on my Windows 7 box using a Spyder Print 4.

I understand the basic procedure of printing my profiles with all colour management turned off, printing and then scanning back in my profiles and then I guess I then select that 'newly created' profile while printing.

I tend to do my printing from LightRoom (again, this is Windows).

However, I am not convinced that even that is right, or I have missed a step as my prints don't look as right as they should be. I appreciate that that is somewhat subjective.... :)

I've done lots of research. I talked to Datacolor, and they say talk to Canon. They even say that SpyderPrint is a bit of a challenge under Windows.

Am I missing something obvious?

May thanks in advance for any guidance. This is a bit of a foreign world to me.

You are right about how to create a profile, but I don't think you can use LR to create profiles, since there's no option to print without color management AFAIK. Do you have Photoshop?

Here is the basic process anybody using a Spyder Print or Colormunki etc. must follow:

1) Start Profiling Software
2) Click "Print Target"
3) In the printer settings that pop up, disable all color management (ICM etc.) in the driver settings
4) Target will be printed
5) Measure target and create ICC profile

Now in Lightroom:

1) Go to "Print"
2) Choose "Color Management by Lightroomr" and the newly created ICC Profile
3) Click "Print"
4) In the printer settings that pop up, disable all color management (ICM etc.) in the driver settings
5) Image will be printed correctly

Important:

Under Windows 7 you should not print from SpyderPrint 4.2.3. Just do your measurements there. Please use "Adobe(R) Color Printer Utility" to print the targets located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Datacolor\SpyderPRINT\Targets".
