No, it's usually somewhere indoors. And in my experience, a repeatable place where others can find/use it.

Part of a fire arm? Such as the trigger mechanism?


Canon 5DII, Canon 27-105, Canon 17-40, Sigma 70mm macro Tamron 150-600 g2, Sigma 70-200 1:2.8, 2x teleconverter, extension tubes, 430 flash... Studio.

Don't gloat, we're having a hard time.

Some metal, some plastic, no electricity, has functional teeth, has an unseen clear part that isn't a lens, very common, usually indoors, left around for others to use.

Tape dispenser?

The photos helped very little. (We have two tape dispensers, and neither of them looks like that.) The information was in the answers and clues, especially the idea that the item's teeth are essential.
