I went to NYC yesterday to see my sister, Susan, who works on 48th St. and 3rd Avenue. She has the corner office on the 39th floor and blocks one side because the sun comes in too much. I wanted to show her view and let you know, it's the first time in my life I have ever been jealous. She can see half of Manhattan.

Enjoy. And comments are great. I just lightened the photo a little. I took this with my 10D, 50mm f1.4 with the ISO 100, and in the shade.

That is a great view of the famous Chrysler Building. I just went up to the Top of the Rock, which is an observation deck atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza, I think around the 60th floor. It has commanding views of the entire city. I shot lots of pictures, but the light was just too harsh, as it was mid day with a blazing sun. I don't have them here at work, or I'd post a few.

Nice shot you took there.

That's my fave NYC building. Shame about the crummy buildings around it. It's a great spot to have an office tho' ... assuming she has a good lift/elevator ;-)a

She does, directly to her floor from the lobby. Also, to the right, I will post later, is the Empire State Building and on the far right side, the river. I'm telling you, I wanted to stand at that picture window all day. The Chrysler Building is the most beautiful architecturally outside and inside. If anyone has been there, it's all wood. Don't make them like that anymore. Thanks for the comments. I can't wait to see yours.

I ended up staying in NJ and taking the NJ Transit in directly to Penn Station. Not only was there little traffic, there were so few people in NYC on Wednesday, it was really sad. But we got home in record time because no one went into work if they could avoid it. Bad timing for the city, right before the holidays. Oh well.

Nice shot, SuzyView. It reminds me a little of standing in Windows On The World, top floor of the Trade Center. Sad to think of it, but there were some fantastic views from there, especially at night when all the lighted streets were laid out before you. I would guess your sister is doing well in her career to have such a nice office.

The answer is yes to my sister being successful. And I know exactly what you mean. My husband worked at Two World Trade for 4 years on the 39th floor and had a wonderful river view. He once saw the July 4th fireworks from his office, on top of the lights. What a sight! Too bad he didn't take any pictures.

When I think of NYC buildings I think of The Chrysler and the Brooklyn Bridge. Empire State & Guggenheim no thx.

Those stainless things, the corner gargoles.... what were they thinking?

Nice pic. Is that the large building that you see in all the gangster films (set in the 20s/30s, e.g. Road to Perdition) when they drive into New York etc?

I think that may be the Empire State Building. I haven't seen King Kong yet, but I heard it was really great, with views that were close to real. I will try to post the view on the right on the Chrysler building of the Empire State. Thanks for the comments.

I thought this would be fun. I took this one at the Toys R Us at Times Square. It's the alternate view.
