I like it too. The colors are great, and it looks very sharp to me.

I like it, too. The composition and colors are pleasing. I am curious about how the track is secured to the ties, as there doesn't appear to be clearance for the wheel flanges. :)

Thanks, that solves the mystery. And gives us a great track picture, to boot.

I like it - nice colors & crisp.

How's the ridership on that line?

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Tom W: Better and better every day. When gas prices went up a number of people turned to DART for relief. As a result I believe DART won many new riders over after they saw just how safe and convenient the LR could be. I personally use DART as my main mode of transportation... have for going on two years now.. needless to say I love it.. I live downtown and never have the need to go very far so its ideal. During peak hours the trains (NB red line in particular) will be packed.. and I don't mean every seat is taken "packed".. I mean 8 car trains with people standing in every possible space "packed". On the weekends I also see both young and old making use of the rail instead of driving drunk.. which is wonderful for obvious reasons..

2005 was a record setting year for urban growth in Dallas.. I don't think many have been able to grasp the scale of things to come over the next 5 years.. The center city Dallas people once knew will be no more..The project list is unbelievable... I'm not sure if you keep up with future plans for the LR here, but by 2010 I believe there will be a total of 6, maybe 7 lines reaching every corner of the metro-plex.. 2005 was a great year for this very young system, but I think it pails in comparison of things to come.

Thanks for your comment! Glad you like the image :)

Thanks for the info - I love the rails, but I hate to see a project built if nobody is going to use it. And there's a lot of those pet projects floating around. I'm glad that people are making use of this one, and I hope that ridership is a consideration in all of these projects.

(OT) - I took interest in this issue of late because somebody wants to spend millions of taxpayer dollars on a study to test the feasibility of a high-speed rail from here to Atlanta. I'm strongly against it as I don't want my city to become a suburb of Atlanta (which is rather huge, and carries a higher crime rate as most large cities do). To me, I prefer to keep Atlanta as far as possible from Chattanooga. I didn't move here to enjoy the big-city life, and I don't want it coming to me.

I'd much rather that they build a high-speed highway around Atlanta so that I can get to Florida in a reasonable amount of time without dealing with the traffic that is a direct result of a metropolis that's outgrown its own infrastructure. :)

No problem, and that's totally understandable. I know for a fact that many share the same concern. With any luck we'll figure out a way for developments such as this to progress w/out disrupting their surrounding environments.

I agree that the colors are vibrant and the focus is crisp, but I don't see anything special about the photo. The foreground and background are both uninteresting and there's no sense of motion. Maybe if there were people boarding or some prettier background (like the West End or Reunion Tower & Hyatt) it would be better. I might have taken same photo, but I wouldn't end up wanting a print of it.

Now this brings back memories of thanksgiving - the last time I was warm out doors! :-s All being well I'll be back riding this line in a few weeks :-)

Cameras, lenses and lots to learn.
