Challenge #395 - MELLOW
Dictionary definition of mellow: Soft and rich in flavour, colour or sound; softened by age etc.; genial or partly drunk.

_______________
RESULTS!

The winner is CarloY for "Day's End and Time for Reflection". Really liked the evening light and how it softened the old buildings (San Francisco?) plus the composition worked well with the figures half in sunlight.

Maureen Souza's "Fine Wine/Warm Afternoon" comes in with the very close second place. The lady looks as if she may be even one step past mellow after all those fries, at least one cocktail and probably more wine glasses than one! Do tell us the story behind the shot, Maureen.

Raven's tired looking "Sheriff Wyatt Earp chillin' in the shade on a hot day in Tombstone, AZ" gets third place. Although I would have liked to see the rest of his left foot in the frame, he looks mellowed enough to have trouble with a fast draw.

Needsnow - your "Siberian Smoke on the Spit" looks like typical west coast to me even though I see you live in Nebraska. Nice shot, and I'd even guess it was taken in Washington, maybe the Olympic Peninsula?

Marie - you always come up with a really good human shots and "mellow for her fellow" is no exception - lucky "fellow"!

Jim Askew - your title of "Tranquility" is illustrated perfectly - nice one!

mrshobden - congratulations on actually finding something labeled "mellow" with your "MELLOW YELLOW pumps".

BobsYourUncle - your guy in "Camping - Feeling Mellow" looks zonked out all right (on bottled water?) but I think you'd agree that the highlights are somewhat blown in that difficult lighting?

So... thanks everyone, and over to you Carlo.

P.S. Audiosteve - your entry was too small, way too late for the challenge, and posted despite my note that the challenge was already closed. Read the rules and hope you make it on time in the next one!

Congrats to Carlo & raven! And thx for my favorite 2nd place, teekay :)

The story behind this photo is rather simple. We attended a fund raiser for Food Link which was held on the day of the Kentucky Derby so it was a KD party at the Country Club. This young lady is one of my daughter's best friends and had been sipping cocktails & wine all afternoon & you can see the effect it was having on her. It was also a nice warm 86 degrees so between the 2, she had mellowed out nicely.

That "guy" is my oldest daughter!:lol:

Yes I have to agree the lighting was awkward. I bought a used Pro1 and was experimenting a lot with it to see what I could do. Slightly bigger sensor than my G11. Finally went with the G1X...
Anyways it was hard to get a proper exposure of her - I took a few quick shots when she leaned back and closed her eyes to absorb some rays. If she was properly exposed my RV and stuff would have been dark.

She was pounding back those bottled waters straight up! Must have been too much for her! Haha!

It was all I had on hand to make think "Mellow" and I was too busy to go shoot something.

Maureen, thats a great shot with the glass of wine and the empty drink glass. The combo of the legs over the side of the chair and the eyes closed is awesome! I really like this one - thought it fit perfectly with the theme.
