I just ordered the 17-40 from my local camera shop to supplement my 24-105 and 70-200 on the new mkIII as well. Mostly based on recommendations on here and dpreview. Just bummed he didn't have it in stock!

A BIG Thank You to everyone for the input. It is much appreciated. You have made this decision pretty simple. I am going to get the 17-40. Again, thank you!

Tom I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've used mine since 2005 on ASP-C bodies and its never given bad results. It'll be great on the FF body.

The 17-40 is a great lens to compliment the 24-105... MUCH wider.

I like the 17-40 overall.. Wish it had better sharpness though, especially at the edges. But for the most part is still performs very well. I think about getting it back once and a while.

I find my 24-105 is not wide enough at times. The 17-40 would be a good addition.

Agreed! ^

But for me, I have my Samyang 14mm when I need wide (and insane sharpness to the edge!). Manual focus though, but it works for me at least.
