Has anyone noticed that nothing seems to be selling in the forums. I was looking down the list and the overwhelming majority of post have no response. I guess the economy has finally hit the used gear market. I have listed two things recently and gotten no hits. Previously everything I post sells fairly quickly.

When i was recently looking most of what I looked at was moving, if the price was right. I eneded up buying new since the asking prices weren't distant enough from the retail prices (with a good deal).

Yes, I agree. Most of the price listed are un-realistic. May as well buying new for almost the used price.
Even made n offer, the sellers aren't willing to budge.

I would agree with this thread! The used section does seem to be moving slower these days, kinda surprised me, I usually can unload gear here. What I have noticed is that say you have item "ABC" that seems to sell on ebay/here for 400+shipping. You might have the same item, plus a bonus item and they will offer you say 325.00 (lower than the standard market rate), then want to also pay 100% of the shipping/tracking/signature/paypal/package fees.

2nd thing I have noticed. You will get people asking offering you X for product "ABC", you will agree via PM, then you will never receive paypal,PM,email. You PM them back and never hear anything back. At least if you change your mind, treat others as you want to be treated and inform them something came up and you backed up, so they don't' end up holding it waiting for payment and miss other sells.

I think maybe if we charged a small amount less than FM on the buy/sell. Say like 5 dollars it might help too and add a real feedback system like several other sites i'm a member of.

Some of the things that I'm interested in used are just plain priced too high. Then you need to add shipping and possibly insurance. Adorama and B&H provide free shipping most of the time. By the time you add shipping and paypal charges to a used item your better off with new. For the difference in price you get a guarantee. Just my opinion!

Maybe people have spent their money on summer holiday season, and get ready for Christmas deals. Economy is looking grim everywhere.

Marketplace here will get some improvements in the future, but there are other things on todo list before that.

It is not just with camera gear either. The economy it hurting everyone. I put my Eagle Talon ESI up for sale with pictures to show just how mint she is and I only have received one phone call. The car only has 79 thousand klms. I was asking 5 grand or best offer and not one person wants to come look GRRR!

That may have more to do with WHAT your selling, not the economy you are selling IN!

I actually posted a want ad for a trio of older walkaround lenses (any one of them, will probably be deciding on the 28-70) and have gotten a few PM's from some people, but I have noticed prices are a little higher than last time I looked, which might be why.

It’s the prices. 15% of retail for a used lens is just crazy. I’ve been buying new, or off Craig's List.

No, I'm not a professional photographer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Some of it is the seller is just too unrealistic in what they think their gear is worth.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

I don't know, I just sold my 85L on Amazon. I've had my best luck selling there.
