Check any day, any time and you will most likely find the 100 - 400 mounted on my 50D. This glass and I are meant to be together forever. So after years of making photographs in places where dirt is abundant I sent my beloved Dust Pump to Canon service to have it cleaned and restored to "Factory Specs". In order to avoid severe separation anxiety I purchased the 1.4 Extender to use with the 70 - 200. This photograph was made early today with them and the crop is as big as they come. Hopefully I can continue to share worthy images while the work is being done.

Nice catch, nice light and reflection as well.

The 100-400 is a GREAT lens isn't it? I actually love the push pull design, I know some don't, and I know some have complained that it's a little soft at the long end but, in truth, must have a good copy as mines tack sharp throughout its focal range. Yours obviously is too, having seen so many of your shots with it.

Hope you get it back soon. In the meantime looks like this combos working for you nicely!

Andrew, I love the push pull as well. It is simple and easy to control with the tension ring. Thanks so much for your kind words. It certainly is different working without it.

Hahahaha....too funny, Lil. I was just contemplating doing the exact same thing on the way home, today :D

That's a nice shot of the heron, but that combo just isn't a good substitute for the ole' Pump, is it? :D

Lovely shot Lilian, great reflection.

Looks like you should survive for a while without the old dust pump!

Jeremey, thanks so much. I do try to leave some environment in my shots when possible, if only not for interest.
It has been three days now and the anxiety is very real.

Eric, it was so hard to bring myself to the camera shop with lens in hand. I'm just hoping that it comes back the same old great lens that I know and love.
And no, the combo is definitely not a substitute for my beloved Pump. I'm biting my tongue on judgement until having a bit more experience with it.
