There is a small cafe that sells hand craft art on a commission. The owner is thinking that I should frame 3-5 prints and hang on her wall as an advert for my business and place business card with the prints. rotate prints monthly to keep it fresh.
I am not sure that this is a bad idea at all as the shop is busy, so now is the price time. I have no idea where she and I stand on what this should cost me, but I am guessing that I am thinking lower then she is.
Have any of you advertised like this before and if so what kind of price where you charged for the space?
Joe

Who approached whom with this idea?

Ideally, there should not be a charge involved in either direction. I have displays in a restaurant and a couple of salons, no money involved. They get very nice artwork, I get valuable exposure.

Yes, it is "valuable," and it would cost me $400 a month to have the same display at the local mall (given that it's the mall's business model to sell display space), but I've been able to establish relationships with these three venue owners do display my work free of charge.

This is not an unusual relationship. If I were you, I'd shop around for a market-suitable venue that would happy to have your work on their walls for no charge.

Would she be facilitating any sales on site? I did this with a local business and she took a commission on any sales. Other than her 30% commission (which I figured into my pricing scheme) there were no other fees involved.
