For those of you who come up the Owens Valley to get to Mammoth Lakes or Yosemite, I decided to stop at a few spots along the way to take some snapshots. That way, when you get lonely for the eastern Sierras you can just look at this posting.
Bishop pasture.

This is an interesting area because the reddish hill in the center is a cinder dome from earlier volcanic action. Then the Sierras eroded more making a sloped area around the cinder dome. Then another lava flow came along on top of the eroded area, going around the old cinder dome and spread out across the valley.
