Hey gang, thanks to the generosity of forum member Yno, I have now installed his deactivated copy of Photoshop CS5, upgrading from my old CS3, WhooHoo!

So, I figure there will be a good learning curve, I've been bookmarking recommended sites for various tutorials and such. My workflow has revolved around Lightroom, and I don't have a need to move away from that, but being able to use the (to me) new features of CS5 will be very cool for those times when, well, when it will come in!!!

So thanks, Yno!

That's all, folks, back to your normally scheduled program!

Cool.
Spend some time with Content Aware.
It's not perfect, but there will be many times that you run it, and smile because of how amazing it is and the time it will save when things need to be removed or added.

Content aware is certainly one of the things I'll be messing with!

I prefer CS5 to CS6. Seems more stable to me and the layout is more friendly for older computers. I will wait to see what CS7 has to offer :)

Interesting, I've heard mostly good things about CS6, but haven't really delved into things. I had been content just staying with CS3 until Yno's generous offer!

CS5 has some nice features that CS3 didn't. I think you'll like it quite well.

However, CS6 is worth it just for the 2012 Process version in ACR alone. The new sliders are what sold me. Huge improvement IMO. Most of the improvements in CS6 are under the hood.

Congrats on getting CS5 and another thanks to Yno, nice thought.

I do like the 2012 PV, but since I have LR4 I'm not pining away...:)! The only "gap" would be opening Raw Smart Objects, but hey, I'm happy:)!

Cool, for some reason I thought you were still on LR3 . 2012 PV was what sold me on the upgrade. The new sliders took a little getting use to how they worked, but they work so much better. Opening a RAW as a Smart Object comes in handy if you need to process for different areas of an image and use blend modes and/or masks. I can use ACR a lot without ever making the trip to PS.

Dennis, I would have been "stuck" in LR3 as well as CS3, except for the generosity of POTN members. My personal spending budget is $00.00, but, well, I've been blessed being an active part of this community!

And, yeah, I've made use of smart objects. But actually I've gotten enough mileage out of PV 2010 in LR3 that I think I can deal with things:)!

That is too funny Tony...you delving into CS5 while I'm learning about the things that LR can really do when ya get down and dirty. ;)
