Hi
I just looked at the instructions in section 2] it says extract the downloaded self extracting file > for Windows: double click and then you get a 'Self Extracting Archive Box'
Well it doesn't work like that for me! I don't get that box at all.
Sorry for being fussy, but with the 'freezing issues' just want to make treble sure.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1.

I was given a link by Canon UK tech support, so I'm sure I downloaded the correct self extracting file.

It appears automatically in 'Downloads' and looks like a single zipped file icon called "eos7d-v200-win".
If you double click on this a new screen open and there is a folder called "update procedure pdf" [with 5 language pdf instructions files in it] and
another whiteish file icon that says "7D000200.FIR"
[]There is no box to extract in as per the instructions]

I assume the whiteish file icon that says "7D000200.FIR" is the one I just copy and load into the root of the CF card, which is in a Scandisk card reader
[connected by a USB 3.0 port/cable to my PC]

Thanks Chuck
I assume it is the right file - just a differrent version of windows not being like the instructions?

The instructions are incorrect. They were not updated from the previous upgrade where you actually got a self-executing exe file.

Bad on Canon

I would hang fire on doing the upgrade if I were you until Canon sort out the locking problem.

I think I'll take your advice, as I'm very happy with my 7D as it is [other than the 'Busy' notification when using wireless flash - which Canon UK is looking into for me - not really a big issue more an irritation].

I'd just like to get the Lens Correction data for my 40mm Pancake, but even that can wait as I'm truly impressed with that little gem as it is.

I just thought I'd look into getting everything ready for the big day
