Trusted sources confirmed that the price of the A99 body only should be around 2800 Euro/Dollars. There will be slightly variations form country to country but this is the price you should expect! This is about 600 Euro/Dollar cheaper than the Canon 5DmarkIII (price and specs here) and $200 cheaper than the Nikon D800 (price and specs here). Sources told me this is really a unique camera as it is definitely the best hybrid stills and video Full Frame camera they have ever tested. What you should expect is not only a nice camera but a full system with plenty of useful and innovative accessories!

These are the specs we posted a couple of days ago:

24.3 Mpx Full frame CMOS Exmor sensor
SLT technology
New Bionz imaging engine
14 bit RAW recording
10 fps
ISO 100 up to 25.600
50 ISO extended (with lower dynamic range)
102 AF point AF (11 cross).
AF range
MF assist
Dual Phase detection system (with AF phase pixels on sensor)
30 sec and 1/8000 maximum shutter speed
Time Lag 0.05 sec.
Shutter life guarantee of 200,000 cycles
2.360k OLED electornic viewfinder
3″921k LCD with same tilting system of the A77
Full HD video recording at 1920×1080/60p AVCHD format
HDMI output
Built-in stereo mic
Built-in flash with guide number of 12
Auto HDR capability
New multi-segment low pass filter
Photodiode expansion technology
Light concentration technology

I've been following the Sony's since the A77 came out. If this is true, I would consider jumping ships.

Canon 6D & 7D. Panasonic GX85 and a number of ever changing lenses.

ridiculously awesome featureset. Does sony offer an equivalent to the 50L? That along with a competent standard zoom, and I'de be taking a serious look. In body stabilization, sony sensor *drools*

Can you sustain 10 FPS on to SD cards? If so, why do so many CF/SD users complain of SD cards slowing their write speeds?

Why is Sony announcing this on probably the worst possible day?

People buying cheapo Sandisk ultra SD and expect them to beat CF.
Get the Extreme Pro SD card which cost less than the equal size Extreme Pro CF card.
Most new camera can take advantage of the UHS-1 from SD but canon decide to cripple the SD slot on 5DIII to 25mb/sec :(

Too bad Sony's joystick is such a pain to use. I would love to get a hands on with a Sony A99 + 135 1.8 and the 5D2 or 3 with the 135L and see how they match up. Sony needs to work on their lens line ups a lot.

Zesiss 135 1.8 is in a class of it's own. The Bokeh is up there with 85 1.2L, just narrower FOV

And just why, exactly?

If you sold what is in your signature you might be able to buy a sony camera and a lens, then you'd be stuck with sony. There's lots of complaints on customer service as well as limited new lens selection, pricing, etc. I think sony controls the price of cameras and lenses as no reseller is able to have a sale.

In body stabilization
likely the best sensor
Fast framerate
Lot lighter than competition
Articulating screen

Not saying I'm switching, just listing some legit reasons to ponder.

Only $200 less than the D800, a much smaller lens selection, lower IQ due to SLT - doesn't look very interesting, unless you particularly need the 10fps or video capability.

The rumor is that it's "10fps" like the D800 is "6fps".

While 60p is great, isn't 60p AVCHD more compressed than what Canon DSLRs do? My consumer Panasonic camcorder did 1080/60p AVCHD three years ago. What is the bit rate?

How big is the sensor on the Panasonic camcorder? ;)
DSLR video is about super thin DOF and great lowlight/detail at the same time.
1080 60p will be wicked for slowmo stuff
