They just announced it on their facebook page. It's just a beta version for right now, but it's better then nothing. I'm happy to say I'm using my mini and flex now again.

I tested 5D3 with 600EX-RT, 580EX-II, 550EX and a Studio flash with this beta firmware.
Everything seems to be OK.

Have not tested in higher shutter speed though.

Yasmin.

Yes, I've also confirmed that it works for the AC3/AC9, alienbees, and speedlite. Althought it's just still a beta version it seem to be working just fine. I don't shoot anything over 1/250 in the garage studio anyways.

Is the firmware upgrade just for the 5d3 or is there some other benefit?

Good news. I've been waiting for this update and look forward to reading everyone's comments.

TT1+AC3 on 5DIII works to control Einstein+PowerMC2.

HyperSync/HSS works fine with the 5DIII and the 580 EX II.

As far as HyperSync/HSS on Einsteins, doesn't work, and I've never got it working with previous firmware version on other bodies (7D and 5D Mark III). But I never used it anyway.

In my (un)scientific test in Central Park today, my 600EX-RTs do not seem to have any range issue due to RF radiation with FlexTT5s.

I am still having terrible range problems with remaining one 580EX-ii. All other units I already sold on ebay last week.

Anyone having range problem with 600EX-RT and Flextt5?

Yasmin

The only chance you will ever have for an Einstein to work in Hyper Sync with ControlTL is at full power. It does but with only a slight shutter speed increase. I think I got it to 1/320 on a 5DII.

Remember, Hypersync depends on a long tail between peak power and T.1. With the Einstein there is no tail for any power setting below full because of the IGBT power control

And, although I asked several times when beta testing the MC2, Pocket Wizard and Buff do not plan to implement HSS "strobing" on the Einstein, even though it is theoretically possible , again, because of the IGBT power control.

Beta 6.153 gives my 5D3 clean hypersync at 1/250". And about 5% of dark curtain at the bottom of the frame at 1/320".

On my 1D3, I get clean 1/400", slight curtain at 1/500". Same as previous 6.x version. I used to get 1/640+ with v5.x, but offset tweaking is only available when using Standard channels in simple-trigger mode (no ControlTL, no ETTL, no HSS).

Why do you need ControlTL. The 600EX-RTs will deliver HSS.
